The Ministry of Utmost Happiness

Another year, another many hours spent in the kitchen during Thanksgiving. I don’t cook very often, but when I do, it somehow manages to feel great. Perhaps it’s the sensation of helping out other people, or maybe it’s the fact that I know the food will be received well by other people, but helping cook still sparks joy. Every year, I also bake around four dozen pecan pie bites to bring to the family gathering, which are also received really well. Though the process may now be routine and tiring, it still feels like the first time my mother helped me figure out how to knead dough and create the filling. I’m not sure how much else I can say about this, other than that I really enjoy the process of creation when done for it’s own sake.
